One of the first questions I get when someone books a photo session with me is often "What should I wear?" The answer is - whatever makes you the most comfortable! That being said, I've put together a few tips for you to reference that may help you get the clean, crisp photos you're looking for if you're working with me!
1. Keep it neutral
In my opinion, your clothes aren't the most important piece of the photo - what you're wearing should really accent or add value to the photo instead of drawing attention away from your face or the subject of the photo (maybe it's baby toes, to wedding rings etc.) I personally love solid colors because we can play off of that much more with backdrops and contrasts.
2. Leave out the patterns
Similar to the above, patterns can be really distracting. Imagine if you're wearing a plaid shirt, your partner is wearing a different plaid shirt, and you're in a place with a busy background. That's a lot happening! Your faces are key to most pictures and we want to make sure that we aren't pulling attention away from you!
3. Wear something you love
Most people I meet don't love getting their picture taken. That being said, it get's exponentially worse when you're in poses that aren't comfortable or natural to you and even worse when you're dressed outside of your comfort zone. If you're looking for awkward photos - do those 3 things I just mentioned (LOL). If you're looking for more natural, wear your favorite outfit and choose to have photos done in a place you're familiar with. This will give you the upper hand in feeling more comfortable and you'll be much happier with the final outcome!
Basically, what it comes down to is pick something simple and pick something you love wearing! There really isn't much worse than feeling uncomfortable at a photo shoot and I want to help you eliminate the unnecessary variables so that you do have a great experience!
