Eryn Gilson, 614 Mom and also a Columbus Native (much like Chelsea Mohrman who was featured in June's edition of The Company We Keep) has been featured on WBNS-10TV, WYSX, Fox 28, Cbus Chic, and many other local outlets! She's known for message on and off her blog which aims to share tips, tricks, and life while parenting in Columbus, creating an awesome experience for the whole family! She's successfully grown a tribe through her diligence and passion for experiencing our city and keeping it family friendly. Her goal is making sure those experiences are accessible to others growing their families throughout the Columbus Metro area and empowering those experiencing similar seasons of life!
Eryn is an active member at Haven Collective (who are another set of inspiring entrepreneurs!) where she works, consults, and hosts events helping others build and grow their blogs and businesses - she does have an upcoming session for Fall called "The Business of Blogging" - so stay tuned!
I reached out to Eryn because I think it's amazing she's been able to grow her own blog, following, and business all by helping others and finding her passion - through many seasons of life! Read the full interview below to learn more about 614Mom!
Chelsea Mohrman in her Modern Organic 1950s Cape Cod home with ever evolving thrifted finds. Featured: Maine Coon Cat, Peanut
Chelsea Mohrman, Columbus Native, has been featured on The Everymom, Glitter Guide, Brit+C0 & many more and is known for her modern organic interior design. Her work is clean, down-to-earth, and inspiring. Not only is her work inspiring, her demeanor and humbleness was refreshing and unexpected, which prompted me to want to learn from her and learn more about her journey!
Earlier this year I attended Columbus Navigator's Not Another Home Show with one of my dear friends, Teryn. The two of us set out with the single purpose of hearing two speakers, one of which was Chelsea Mohrman of Chelsea Mohrman Interiors presenting on "Decorating on a Budget". The little I knew about Chelsea was that she had a style that I loved and absolutely wanted to emulate affordably. I had no idea she had over 50k followers on social channels and had been featured in literally every online media outlet I follow regularly. Since she started blogging back in 2011, she has built a brand and audience based on her style and become a major influencer in her industry.
As we were sitting listening as Chelsea gave a brief summary of her background in design and started to dive into how strategies of her thrifting for quality finds and how her style has changed multiple times over the years, I found myself sitting there wanting to learn more. How did she have time to learn all of this? How does she do this while she works another job? How did she make time for her family? How does she stay creative? -- I'm starting to learn it's truly in my nature to ask how and why from a place of genuine curiosity. This time, however, I took action!
A few days after the event, I reached out to Chelsea directly to see if her story had been published anywhere because I'd personally love to read it. Her response back was along the lines of not necessarily, but she was working on her new website. From here I asked if I could learn more about how she built her brand and her audience. Despite being featured on multiple design blogs, few of them dove into her brand or how it has grown. Below you'll find a full interview on both her design and her journey!
